I have loved seeing all of your dens this week. You have all been so creative when building them. I especially liked seeing how lots of you used the sofas. It has also been great to see you all enjoying the maths challenges this week. I can not believe how much you have all grown! Keep up the good work everyone.
Some fantastic maths challenges this week. Well done everyone who took part. Here are some pictures of the work completed. Can you spot which shapes are the most common? Can you copy any of the patterns made?
This week we have had fun looking at the story Elmer. The children explored mixing the primary colours to paint their own elephant for our Elmers parade. We also spent time looking at patterns. The children impressed me with their knowledge of repeating patterns. Later in the week we made our own story map of Elmer and the children wrote the key parts of the story. Jospeh amazed us with his inpedendnt writing. Well done everyone!
This week in maths we have been exploring numbers and looking at different ways we can show that number. We learnt we can show it using our fingers, objects, pictures and numicon. We then explored how we can show seven as 4 and 3 or 2 and 5. We used dominos to help us see that the number was still 7. We then wrote the numbers on magic disappearing paper. Great exploration everyone 😁
We have had an exciting first week together as RTE. We have been looking at our class story Owl Babies and had fun acting it out together. The children also met their new buddies who look after during lunch times. In maths this week we have been exploring our numicon resource and the children showed off there addition skills. We are excited to start our learning journey together.
This week we have been exploring patterns in maths. We looked at different ways to show patterns and found you could use shapes or colours. Some children then explored this further in the maths area and created their own patterns.
This week the children have been challenging themselves with the numicon. They have been working on one more and one less and adding two numbers together. They have blown me away with there understanding. Next week we will be moving onto halving.
This week the children have enjoyed using the Numicon and the playdough to work out some additions. They impressed me with their knowledge of adding and even had a go at writing some addition sentences!
